A propos de l’Ecomusée de l’Armagnac

Château Garreau, 3850 route d'Estang 40240 LABASTIDE-D'ARMAGNAC

The Ecomuseum of Armagnac is a non-profit association (under the French 1901 law), founded in 1986. It incorporates the Armagnac Terroir Research Center, established in 1984. Recognized as being in the public interest, it is eligible to receive tax-deductible donations.

Its mission is to promote the Armagnac region in various ways: cultural, touristic, economic, heritage-related, and environmental.

Run by volunteers, the association is based at Château Garreau, also known as the Domaine de Gayrosse, which has been producing Armagnac since the 17th century.

Straddling the municipalities of Labastide d’Armagnac and Mauléon d’Armagnac, the Ecomuseum of Armagnac brings together in one place the history, expertise, and discovery of the Armagnac region.
It benefits from a remarkable and preserved natural environment, home to protected species such as the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis).

The Ecomuseum of Armagnac is also a place for experimentation and research, including experimental grape varieties, a pilot project for cultivating porcini mushrooms, and a distillery-school.
